The Stories of Those on Cabrillo Street

The Stories of Those on Cabrillo Street is a short novel written, illustrated, and designed by me, combining fantastical realism and illustration to explore family, home, and belonging among the residents of Cabrillo Street. Through the stories, I was able to explore my journey with belonging in a new place both through familiarity, and the adventure of encountering something new. Merging my history as an illustrator/artist and my newfound love for design, this book captures my growth in my practice and life.

Book Spreads

Within this book, each chapter explores a different home, with a different family. The chapters open with an illustration of the home, and an opening title page, with a quote from a fairytale that the story was inspired by. And once you turn the page, a whimsical script leads you into the story. In each story, the family has it's own distinct hat design, that serves as section breaks.

ILLUSTRATIONS

Blending my background in illustration with my present passion for design, this book gave me the opportunity to share my love for fairytales through beautiful illustrations of the homes and parts of the stories. Sketched on paper, and painted on procreate.
